Consequences

One of the hardest lessons I ever had to learn
is sometimes things just can't be undone.
No matter how hard you plead or yearn
some consequences cannot be outrun.

Some words or acts cannot be unsaid or be reversed.
The harm done was real and forever;
feelings can't be mended or coerced.
There are no quick fixes whatsoever.

There's only one way we have to really try to aid:
to apologize from our heart.
We have to step away, not persuade.
Time has to enter in and do its part.
